Our Story

Welcome to The Parent Load. Here's a little bit about the idea behind The Parent Load, and the reason it exists in the first place. It all started with a feeling many parents know well, having too much to keep track of and nowhere for it all to go. So we created somewhere for it to go, a simple idea, built from real life and the everyday juggle of keeping all the wheels turning.

INTRODUCTION

A big hello

Hi, I'm Soph. Family life comes with a lot to keep on top of as the default parent. My partner works away with no family close by, an active dog and a part time job. From meals and finances to nursery admin and activities and all the details in between, there's always something on the to-do list. And more often than not, it all ends up sitting in my head.

For me, that constantly mental juggling started to feel overwhelming, relentless and exhausting.

WHY AM I BUILDING THIS

A system that works

I tried my phone, apps, notepads but nothing seemed to work except my whiteboard but even then it wasn't perfect or portable. I wanted something that actually worked with real life. Something flexible, easy to come back to, and practical enough to keep everything in one place without adding more pressure. A space to gather everything together so it didn't feel scattered.

WHAT I CREATED

Built around real life

The Parent Load was built to support other parents manage. It's not about being perfectly organised or doing everything 'right'. It's about having a place to keep track of things so they feel more manageable and even getting time to yourself. This was created from a need to feel good enough and on top of life.
